Meet the Team

Our Team at Myersons, Ormskirk

"Myersons", Chartered Accountants, is the trading name of Myersons (CA) Limited.

The company is the result of the natural and amicable break away from Alexander Myerson & Co, Chartered Accountants on 1 September 2013. The directors are Paul Rothwell and Nikki Price, see separate details.

Although a small practice in staff numbers, it is a very highly qualified practice, with the majority of its professional staff being either qualified Chartered Accountants or training towards this qualification. All the staff are hugely enthusiastic in their work.

Unusually, for a practice of its size, the directors have made a conscious effort to remain independent and not merge with a larger practice and run the risk of losing the personal relationships that they consider to be so important. It is registered to carry out statutory audits and can, therefore, handle just about any type of work or size of client that can be thrown at it.

Paul Rothwell - Director

Paul Rothwell profile image

Paul is from Chorley where he trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Since then, he has also qualified with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and in 1998 qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser making him highly qualified in both accountancy and tax which is slightly unusual but very advantageous.

He joined Myersons, Chartered Accountants, in 1995, as an audit manager and in 2000 went on to become their youngest ever partner at the age of 27. Since then, he has developed a good portfolio of clients which have provided him with wide range of experience in accounts, VAT and taxation and has developed a reputation for giving practical, professional advice in normal language (albeit with a Chorley accent!)

Paul still calls Chorley home, is married to Alison and has two grown up children neither of whom want to be an accountant! People who know him best say he isn't what you expect from a normal accountant, but he's unsure whether that is because of his friendly, warm personality or because of his very poor jokes.

Nikki Price -Director

Nikki joined Myersons, Chartered Accountants, back in 2000 starting out as an accounts junior. Since then through dedication and commitment from Nikki and support from the firm she is now a Chartered Accountant with the two largest accounting and audit institutes in the UK, ICAEW and ACCA. She is also proudly the first female partner/director in our practice.

Nikki's professional yet sensitive approach to meeting client needs, and her increased knowledge and experience in a number of areas, has allowed her to maintain long term relationships with her clients and see good growth in her portfolio.

Out of work, Nikki spends a lot of her spare time at Thai Boxing. She has been a member of her local club for over 7 years and absolutely loves it. It helps her keep fit and healthy, and to de-stress. She is a bit of a daredevil too, and would probably attempt almost any challenge/activity if asked.

James Windle – Audit Manager

Jim Windle profile image

Educated at Ormskirk Grammar School and then Staffordshire University, Jim started his accountancy career at a Southport practice in 1999. He subsequently joined Myersons, Chartered Accountants in 2005.

Over the years he has gained considerable experience in a number of areas, especially regarding the audit and preparation of accounts for a wide variety of Limited companies.

Jim returned to his studies a few years ago and in 2018 qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, ACCA.

Outside of work, music and travel have been a main passion of his, though gigs and city breaks have had to take a bit of a back seat in recent years as time spent with his young family are now the priority in his spare time.

Nick Makinson - Accounts

Nick Makinson profile image

Nick was born in Chorley and attended Southlands High School where he achieved 10 GCSE's and was part of several sports teams. Injury held him back in a sporting 'career', but he doesn't think that Manchester United have missed him too much!

Immediately after leaving school he started work for a local accountancy practice and he has gained considerable experience in both practice and industry.

In 2011 he qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, ACCA.

He lives in Chorley with his wife and 2 young daughters. Having a recent addition to the family means that most of his spare time is taken up with family commitments. However, he still tries to enjoy the occasional game of snooker with the odd pint (or two).

In November 2012 he was offered a job at Myersons, Chartered Accountants, which he accepted, and has quickly become an important part of the highly qualified team here.

Angela Martin - Company Secretarial

Angela Martin profile image

Angela started working at Myersons Chartered Accountants, in 2007 as a receptionist and assistant to Rita (John's wife).

Once Rita retired, Angela took on her role as secretary, whilst still also “manning” the reception.

As the office has grown, Angela has taken on further roles and now deals with clients Company Secretarial work as well as secretarial / PA duties for the directors.

In her spare time she likes to exercise at the gym, visit her family and spend time at home with her boyfriend.

Haylee Massam - Administration

Haylee started working at Myersons back in 2012. She started work as the office junior on an apprenticeship scheme and has passed and completed her business administration level 2, NVQ. She is progressing well and is enjoying learning new skills within the accountancy environment and is a valuable member of the team.

Outside of work Haylee likes to spend her time playing Netball which she has played for 16 years. Keeping active is part of her daily routine as she is also a frequent gym goer.

She enjoys going to a summer festival (or two) she also enjoys hitting the town and having the occasional holiday.

Amy Jones - Accounts

Amy Jones profile image

Amy was born in Lydiate and now lives in Ormskirk. Amy has been working in accountancy since 2008, where her first role was as a payroll assistant, that role quickly moved onto accounts as the practice thought I had ‘a knack’. She started working at Myersons in November 2014 after having her son and working for a large top ten firm did not suit her lifestyle as a new Mum.

Amy is AAT qualified and has two exams remaining to qualify as an ACCA accountant after a two year break. In her spare time taking care of her 3 year old son takes up most of her time but she loves music (mainly classic rock) and she tries to take as many holidays as possible.

Rachael Howard – Accounts and Payroll Apprentice

Rachael Howard profile image

Rachael lives in the small village of Tarleton where she was born and raised. After being educated in the local schools and completing her GCSE’s she commenced her A Levels at Cardinal Newman College, a year of successful studies went by but she decided that the classroom life was no longer for her so she went on a hunt for.. a real life job.

Being a self-confessed geek when it comes to numbers and always aiming towards a career in the accountancy sector, she thought why not now?

In August 2015 Rachael was welcomed by the Myersons team at the age of 17. She has spent her first year working closely with Emma and Ste building a good knowledge of payroll and accounts and bookkeeping ,while also completing her level 2 accountancy qualification with AAT, she is very much looking forward to getting stuck into Level 3.

Outside of work she enjoys catching up with friends and taking trips to experience different places and cultures. She also likes to exercise having recently re-joined the gym.. but we’ll see how that one goes.
